RuAch Review by: Vents Magazine

Peace & blessings people, We are now on the road towards performing the music off the album project RuAch Live!, Which we are all very much looking forward to doing!.

Like I have mentioned here in the past there’s nothing that can beat a good live performance, Records can sound good on CD & there’s an art to creating a good sound in the studio, But a group needs to be able to deliver a performance sounding just as good if not better than the record, & this is what we have been working on. The team is in place & things are looking great!. We have a pleasant surprise for ya’ll coming soon!

Meantime I would like to thank Larry Toering from Vents Magazine for his review of our album which you can read bellow, & also we thank you the people for your support!, As this enables us to build towards doing greater things in the future.

“If music is from the heart then it will carry no impurity, this would mean that music can’t be misused to fulfil any self-threatening intention, as the heart will never contradict itself, Negative intention surely arises from the delusions of one’s thoughts for it is only in one’s ‘knowing’ that springs truth.” -VonJ

There is a truth to spirit and a spirit to truth, and that is what you take away from Ruach, the latest CD from VonJ. It kicks off with “Out Of The Mire” which has a cool tribal beat fade-intro. Once it cooks up you know it’s on. The guitar starts to boil along with it and you feel like you’re listening to either Santana in the late 60s, or the equivalent. But there are some harmonics applied that bring it into the twenty first century before some further bombast brings some vocals into it, and everything dies down into some sweet acoustic notes before it’s over.

It is a pretty awesome opener to get you going, but it doesn’t stop there with this dynamic multi-instrumental wizard. “Skin Deep” proves to rock hard as well, with even more soul because the vocals step right up and impress. And this one features killer guitar and bass solos. These guys have some serious cops that must be further explored. It is a fantastic unison display before going back into the vocal chorus, which just repeats the top little a few more times. There are a lot of tracks on this album, and only so much review space, but these two pump up the whole set with fury as the rock and swing with funky swagger. They simply can’t be denied as the epic tracks they are, but this CD goes in several directions.

The jazzier side of things kick in on “I’m Coming Back” which gets into some great jazz guitar and sax interplay. It also manages to go in other directions as well. This is an amazing piece to say the least. It’s about coming back to shock the world. A very progressive number that sort of ends without warning and contains very little vocals, not unlike the first track but in another musical galaxy. An out of sight one, at that. You just can’t set it down after this. It is not something you get every day. The musicianship is impeccable, but the arrangements loose without being sloppy.

Other tracks like “Lady Night” are of the slower pace with more poetic lyrics, while “Trails Of Eldoret” bring out more Spanish guitar and very spiritual feelings. You get that same feeling with the coolness of “River Nun” as well, with its hauling horn and crashing cymbals. You get the feeling you’re both inside and outside on this, as it holds some esoteric lyrics, a liquid bass line and some searing guitars. It pulls no punches, as does most of the disc. You can’t help but get swept up into this if you’re really a music lover of all types from mellow to hard rock, world and even some new age and spoken word, where it borders on defying categories. If none of that works, you’re wired to the wrong device, as this is no swift show, it is a long player that will please without question, as long as that is your thing. And it can bring out the soul lover in any rocker and the rock lover in any soul, funk and world music lover alike.

It has everything from the lighthearted guitar of “Experience,” to the upbeat and inspiring “Nu-Times.” The use of all instrumental effects are applied with clever skill to make a sonically gratifying release that I’m sure holds up to Vonj works, so it should please anyone following as well as bring attention from whatever direction the wind blows it.

In-closing it is a great release, with the guitar being the strongest and the production being the weakest values, made up by some fantastic playing and singing by all and taking it out with a bold cover of “Superstition.”

Mine your mind for a positive progression

A few thoughts just crossed my mind today but I shall try to keep this blog as short as I can and maybe elaborate on some points later..

Where are we headed Today as a people?

I pose this question because we can evidently see that mankind has always been in the search for “The New”, this is why we keep seeing significant changes within society, We can observe these changes through our Architecture, Fashion, Music, and Technology etc.. Now In this so-called 21st century the periods in between the changes are merging closer and closer together, this is because civilization now has the benefit of having a recorded back catalogue of past ideas, and now to the vantage point of business’s instead of having the need for inventing “the new” business’s can now simply go back into history and bring something old back and market it as something new.

We must come to recognize positive and negative change, and in this age of heavy consumerism it is clear that money dictates these recent periods of change, thus now the only new changes that exist have been within creating new cunning ways to deceive the people into spending more money, Thus now we are living in a “recycled age”, for example…how many films from the past are being remade today?, How much music from the past has been stolen and remixed for today?, how many cover acts exist?, How many sacred texts are being revised and pushed to us now?,  What has Stephen Hawking done with his life but represent old science theories?. We fall for this trickery everyday, and I would never protest if all this was in the name of improving what has already been done, instead we get dumbed down versions of the past, is there an agenda behind this? or is society past its time?

Ok, first, time is literally none existent to me, all we are doing with this theory of time  is counting revolution around the sun, Nothing changes in the world apart from people’s attitudes in reaction to their placed position in society, let us not be fooled to believe better technology means an evolution in intelligence, In the so called B.C. days people could see in High Definition just as we can today ha-ha..

(been meaning to keep this blog short)….So enclosing here are the facts…Money Is GOD and boy Ain’t it a DOG eat DOG world?!, Truth and originality is now being openly and purposely suppressed, keeping the masses from realizing their true potential, but nothing lasts forever, this corrupt system we live in is due to crash very soon, so now it is time to wake up, Inspiration lasts forever as it is not a thing so if we start to mine our minds and get in touch with our spirit then and only then can we come together to put the work in and witness a positive change in this world. I am trying to do my part.

Do NOT keep your creativity to yourself!

Do NOT keep your creativity to yourself!

I believe that It is time for us to share creativity to each other, Did you know that all of us have a creative gift? though most of us are afraid to tap into this, Society today is making it difficult for us to tap into creativity, and for those who are already aware of their creative potential don’t know how to share it to others.

Creativity is something that is meant to be shared, there are too many individuals out there wondering why life is not good to them, well one of the reasons may be that you are aware of your gift and your not sharing it.

When you look at your past experiences you should be able to see patterns in your life..

Here is a little secret, why do you think people tend to be most generous with their creativity after a term of suffering? bad experiences are there to shock your mind into where you should be, and every so often we need bad experiences to reboot us back into the straight and narrow, sometimes we are so caught up in life’s destructions in that we loose focus of our vision and the whole meaning of our existence…but maybe…just maybe if we remained in the driving seat we would never have needed to go through misfortune, and personally the hardest points in my life were just after periods where I had been selfish within my creativity, or fell short of my creative potential, I then needed a reality check to put me back into where I should be.

When I say share your creativity this could mean something as simple as taking the initiative to call a friend just to talk or get your friend out for lunch as a treat, setting the opportunity to put a smile on someone’s face, Now if you can aspire to share your creativity to more than one individual in a larger way by tapping into your gift then you will receive rewards within your life and you will feel fulfilled, in other words be the best person you can be, and never fall short of your creative potential, after all I know that life is not about what you got its about what you can give.

Time should be looked at as a positive benefactor within ones creativity, The older one becomes the wiser one “should” be, as time gives you the privilege of looking in hind site to assess past experiences, the good and the bad, making it easier to be able to help others move forward richer in knowledge. don’t let time run out on you while you are able to elevate others with your creativity.
